• Obituary: Published in the Mt. Vernon Signal on 29 December 1955 in Mount Vernon, Rockcastle County, Kentucky. 258 MRS. JANIE TAYLOR'S FUNERAL HELD TUESDAY: Mrs. Janie Taylor, a resident of Mount Vernon for many years died at her home Sunday night after and eight-month illness. She was 69.

Mrs. Taylor was born in Woodbine, Ky Feb 20, 1886, the daughter of Richard and Sarah Owens Sowder. Two years after her birth, her family moved to Mount Vernon when she lived until her death.

She married Milt Taylor who preceded her in death many years ago.

She is survived by one son, Thomas, of Mount Vernon and one daughter, Mrs. Virgie Hasty, Elizabeth, Ind., and five grandchildren. One brother, Grover G. Sowder, Hollywood, Calif, also survives.

She was a member of the Buckeye Christian Church for many years.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at Cox Funeral Home with the Rev. George Murphy officiating. She was buried in Taylor Cemetery near Mount Vernon.
