Thomas Jefferson Taylor, 80, Mt. Vernon and a retired railroader, died at Berea College Hospital THursday night after a long illness.

Mr. Taylor, who was a member of the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church was born in Rockcastle County, the son of William and Eliza [sic - Deliah] Cox Taylor. In 1903 he married Laura Sowder, who survives.

He is also survived by five sons: William of Pine Hill; John of Centerville, Ind.; Hubert of Richmond, Ind.; Ed of Mt. Vernon, and Jesse of Goshenm O. Two daughters survive, Mrs. Margie Weaver and Mrs. Elizabeth Isaacs, both of Mt. Vernon, as well as 25 grandchildren adn eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday at Cox Funeral Home, with the Rev. Raymond Lawrence and Rev. Howard Ray officiating. He will be buried in Elmwood Cemetery.
